{"id":4691,"date":"2026-04-24T17:54:50","date_gmt":"2026-04-24T17:54:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jimmy.ekota.net\/?p=4691"},"modified":"2026-04-24T17:54:51","modified_gmt":"2026-04-24T17:54:51","slug":"the-end-or-maybe-not","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/jimmy.ekota.net\/?p=4691","title":{"rendered":"The End \u2014 or \u2014 Maybe Not"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Those of you who periodically check this blog, have noticed that there have been no entries for the past 3 or 4 months. I\u2019m not even sure I know why, but here\u2019s kind of the way things have gone\u2026.<br>I always wrote the blog for me \u2014 actually I rarely even <em>read<\/em> it, I just <em>wrote<\/em> it. I usually updated it in the morning, normally with my second cup of coffee\u2026. in recent years I\u2019ve been a slow starter in the mornings. I rushed around every morning for more than 50 years, getting ready for work, the kids off to school, etc. After retirement I enjoyed the leisurely pace in the mornings.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So, many\/most mornings, I just sat down at the computer and wrote whatever happened to pop into my head at the time. Occasionally, I wrote about special events like birthdays or weddings, but usually it was just my train of thought at the time. I found it relaxing and a number of people commented on it and said they enjoyed reading it \u2014 they probably were just being nice but it made me feel good.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Then a couple of years ago, my entire life changed. Obviously losing Claire was devastating, and something I\u2019ll never recover from, but it was more than that \u2014 it seemed like the whole world, not just <em>my<\/em> world changed. And when I sat down to write something, it came out kind of \u201cdark,\u201d and maybe a little bit depressing. I realized that maybe it wasn\u2019t the world, but just me \u2014 I knew I\u2019d changed but I didn\u2019t realize how much. I didn\u2019t enjoy jotting down my thoughts anymore \u2014 I didn\u2019t even <em>like<\/em> my thoughts anymore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So I figured I\u2019d done the blog long enough and decided to just end it. I knew I should have a \u201cfinal\u201d entry and end it properly, but I never got around to it. My intention remains to end it, but recently a number of people have encouraged me to continue.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I don\u2019t know what I\u2019ll do \u2014 I\u2019m going to give it some serious thought before deciding \u201c<em>What Would Jimmy Do.<\/em>\u201d Therefore\u2026\u2026 this may be the end \u2014 or \u2014 maybe not.<br>\u2014 30 \u2014<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Those of you who periodically check this blog, have noticed that there have been no entries for the past 3 or 4 months.
