That shirt is probably 50 years old. I hadn\u2019t seen it in a long time\u2026<br>I also hadn\u2019t though about Mabuhay in a long time either. Mabuhay is an official Filipino word, and it\u2019s probably one of the first words you\u2019ll hear if you visit the Philippines.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignleft is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/jimmy.ekota.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Mabuhay.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3933\" width=\"226\" height=\"157\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s one of those words like aloha, when you visit Hawaii \u2014 it can have multiple meanings\u2026.<br>The literal meaning, in English, is \u201clive.\u201d But in Tagalog, the national language of the Philippines, mabuhay can mean many different things \u2014 like, \u201cwelcome,\u201d \u201c to life,\u201d \u201c live great,\u201d or \u201chello.\u201d And to the modern Filipino generation, it probably now means \u201clive long and prosper,\u201d \u201c have a great life,\u201d or even \u201cmay the force be with you.\u201d<br>Mabuhay is also used as a toast during celebrations \u2014 in which case it means \u201ccheers!\u201d<br>So Mabuhay is a pretty cool word \u2014 I\u2019m sorry I forgot about it.
