As I\u2019ve mentioned before, when I was a kid, the World Series was a big deal. Most everybody talked about it and all the radios were tuned to the World Series \u2014 there was no TV back then. Most people had a favorite team, and even if their favorite team didn\u2019t make it to the World Series, they picked a favorite of the two teams that were playing.\u00a0<br>Baseball was the sport back then \u2014 I never heard of the NFL when I was young. Even high school and college football wasn\u2019t all that popular\u2026. sports was all about baseball.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now, in 2013, baseball has lost a lot of its popularity \u2014 football and basketball and maybe even soccer are more popular spectator sports these days.<br>But tomorrow night\u2019s first game of the World Series will be played between Texas and Arizona. Yea, you heard me right \u2014 Texas and Arizona.\u00a0<br>So how many people \u2014 even baseball fans \u2014 would have picked these two teams to be in this year\u2019s World Series? Somehow, it just doesn\u2019t seem right \u2014 World Series teams should have names like the New York Yankees, Brooklyn Dodgers, New York Giants, St. Louis Cardinals, Cleveland Indians, Chicago Cubs \u2014 or White Sox. Not the Arizona Diamondbacks or the Texas Rangers.\u00a0<br>I guess if you\u2019re from Arizona or Texas, you may be excited\u2026. for the rest of us, not so much.<br>\u2014 30 \u2014<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Well, it\u2019s that time of year again \u2014 time for the World Series!
