Why? Well, when you think of all the things that have their special day, the question should be why not?&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Most everybody likes pretzels \u2014 almost every little kid likes pretzels, they go good with beer, or wine, or bourbon, or just by themselves. There are the crunchy kind you buy in a bag, and then there\u2019s the big, soft pretzels. And like just about everything else that us purists don\u2019t care so much for, there are flavored pretzels\u2026. to go along with flavored, beer, wine, bourbon, etc.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>National Pretzel Day began in 1983 when U.S. Congressman Robert S. Walker declared his favorite food was deserving of its own holiday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/jimmy.ekota.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/Pretzel-Jimmy-copy-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3568\" width=\"236\" height=\"334\" srcset=\"http:\/\/jimmy.ekota.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/Pretzel-Jimmy-copy-1.jpg 250w, http:\/\/jimmy.ekota.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/Pretzel-Jimmy-copy-1-212x300.jpg 212w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 236px) 100vw, 236px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Some years ago, I became an official Pretzel Twister. I received the honor when we visited the Julius Sturgis Pretzel House in Lititz, Pennsylvania.
