Generating and overcoming are the complementary processes \u2014 the yin and yang \u2014 of The Five Elements Theory.<br>Generating processes promote development, while overcoming processes control development. By promoting and restraining, systems are harmonized and balance is maintained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Every year is associated with an element. To figure out which element is associated with your birth year, look at the last number of your birth year.
