{"id":325,"date":"2013-12-24T20:27:17","date_gmt":"2013-12-24T20:27:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jimmy.ekota.net\/?p=325"},"modified":"2013-12-24T20:27:17","modified_gmt":"2013-12-24T20:27:17","slug":"merry-christmas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/jimmy.ekota.net\/?p=325","title":{"rendered":"Merry Christmas"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Well, here it is Christmas again \u2014\u00a0probably the most special of all the holidays\u2026<\/p>\n<p>Even though we\u2019re not sure why, we all feel different this time of year \u2014 there\u2019s excitement, dread, togetherness, happiness, loneliness, sadness, stress, and just about every other emotion you can imagine. The strange thing is that a lot of us feel them all, or most of them and sometimes at the same time. Someone said that Christmas is a time when you get homesick \u2014 even when you\u2019re home. I think there\u2019s probably some truth to that.<\/p>\n<p>Thinking back about all the Christmases I\u2019ve experienced, I\u2019m pretty sure I can\u2019t remember them all (the number\u2019s getting pretty big) but I remember a number of them. The funny thing is though, that I don\u2019t remember any of them for a particular present I received. I\u2019ve spent Christmases in some pretty awful and some pretty remarkable spots. Those Christmases I remember not so much because of the location but the absence or presence of family\/friends\u2026.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s it \u2014 the best gifts around any Christmas tree is the presence of family\/friends.<\/p>\n<p>I guess you\u2019ve truly grown up when none of the things you want for Christmas can be bought in a store.
