Every year on this date, I\u2019m faced with the difficult task of writing this blog. It\u2019s not that there isn\u2019t a lot to say, the problem lies with trying to convey the same thought without sounding like a broken record. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
I could say that we\u2019re celebrating Claire\u2019s 29th birthday for the 46th time, but I\u2019ve done that before. I could write happy birthday in the languages of all or most of the countries we\u2019ve visited, but I\u2019ve done that before\u2026 it always comes out that in any language, she\u2019s still the love of my life. I could tell you that she\u2019s my best friend\u2026 done that. I could tell you that I\u2019d have to pass if a genie offer to grant me a wish \u2014 with Claire, I\u2019ve already received my greatest wish\u2026. done that. I could describe her many attributes and good qualities\u2026 done that, too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
So I think you can see my problem \u2014 after all these years, I still haven\u2019t been able to make my birthday wishes to her capture how I really feel about her. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Today is a special day for her and I hope it truly is<\/em> \u201cspecial.\u201d But again, what do I say to her to express how much I love her and how much she means to me.\u00a0 So once again, I\u2019ve come up short\u2026.. I\u2019m not sure \u201cI love you.\u201d can ever be over-used and I say \u2014 and mean \u2014 it often. I\u2019ve mentioned before that the Chinese have a phrase, Zhi Zi Zhi Shou, Yu Zi Xie Lao, that means \u201cto hold hands and grow old together.\u201d I like that a lot, but it still doesn\u2019t win out over \u201cI love you.\u201d I\u2019ve also often thought about\u00a0 when Winnie the Pooh told Piglet that \u201cYou don\u2019t spell love\u2026 you feel it.\u201d Maybe that\u2019s the problem \u2014 I haven\u2019t mastered putting that feeling into words.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
