I have a Facebook account \u2014 so, I guess I\u2019m a \u201cmember\u201d of that community. Anyone that wants to check, will find that I don\u2019t contribute to Facebook, and only periodically check the site. The first time I heard of it and after the first time I\u2019d seen it, my thought was that this is a \u201cdangerous\u201d site. I think the idea of it is pretty cool, but even I could immediately think of hundreds of ways it could be mis-used. My opinion hasn\u2019t changed, but that\u2019s not what this morning\u2019s ramblings are about.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This morning, after checking my e-mail and reading a bit about the Super Tuesday elections, I clicked on Facebook and I found a posting by a favorite reader of this blog \u2014 Sue. Seems they had visited the cemetery and she had noticed several humorous engravings on the tombstones. It was an interesting read and was a great example of what Facebook could<\/em> and should<\/em> be.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Anyhow, that got me to thinking\u2026 I\u2019ve visited lots of cemeteries around the world and I don\u2019t remember almost anything that was engraved on the stones \u2014 except for a couple. One that I\u2019ve seen a few times reads, \u201cSee, I told you I was sick.\u201d I always thought that was funny. But one that I\u2019ve always remembered, that I think is funny, thought-provoking, and and little bit sad, reads: I once read that there are very few \u201csignificant\u201d last words spoken by someone who\u2019s dying. I suppose that\u2019s true. I remember hearing that Oscar Wilde\u2019s last words were, \u201cThis wallpaper is dreadful, one of us will have to go.\u201d Probably not significant , but memorable. But I like the way one of the Harry Potter books ended \u2014\u00a0\u201cAll was well.\u201d I have a Facebook account \u2014 so, I guess I\u2019m a \u201cmember\u201d of that community.
