The date of the publication was March 27, 2019 and one little blurb mentioned that today (March 27) is \u201cJoe\u201d Day.<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019ve all heard the term \u201caverage Joe.\u201d Average Joe, Joe Schmo\u2026he\u2019s bland, vanilla, just average. He\u2019s faceless, but not nameless \u2014 and it\u2019s probably not \u201cJoe.\u201d Every country needs a way to talk about just \u201csome guy.\u201d Here\u2019s some of the names listed in the newsletter that various countries use to call that typical guy that probably has no specific qualities\u2026.<\/p>\n<p>In Germany he\u2019s Otto Normalverbraucher (Otto \u201cnormal consumer\u201d or \u201cmiddlebrow\u201d); Denmark calls him Morten Menigmand (Morton Everyman); In Australia, he\u2019s Fred Nurk (sounds like a normal guy to me); Russia refers to him as Vasya Pupkin (sounds like a typical schmo); In Finland, the guy\u2019s name is Matti Meik\u00e4l\u00e4ien (Meik\u00e4l\u00e4ien means \u201cone of us\u201d); In both the UK and New Zealand an average Joe is still Joe \u2014 Joe Bloggs (but Joe can also be a Fred in those countries); The Italians just pick a common name \u2014 Mario Rossi and the same goes for Latin America\u2026 they typically use Juan P\u00e9rez to talk about their typical guy.<\/p>\n<p>Everywhere you go, there\u2019s more of us \u201caverage Joes\u201d than celebrities or royalty \u2014 and there\u2019s nothing wrong with being average. I remember a couple of Presidential elections ago, \u201cJoe the Plummer,\u201d an average guy, played a role in national politics. So what\u2019s in a name?
